SVCC Freedom 5K

The seventh annual Freedom 5K, a walk or run on a one-loop course around the Sauk Valley Community College campus in Dixon, held on Veterans Day weekend. The national anthem is at 8:50 a.m. and the race steps off at 9 a.m., rain or shine, starting at the campus flagpole and finishing at the 9/11 Memorial. Registration is $30, the same price in advance or on race day; anyone registering by November 1 is promised an event T-shirt. All proceeds go to the college's Student Veteran Organization, which helps student veterans with textbooks, bills, food and other unexpected costs. Questions go to Eric Valdez on 815-835-6315.
